Abstract
Recent theoretical work has provided the first 'complete' quantitative and multi-scale theory of the fast magnetic reconnection rate. In this talk, we validate the theoretical prediction using MMS data by examining the force-balance relationship in a magnetotail reconnection diffusion region. A particle-in-cell simulation of an MMS event is compared to the MMS data.
