Location: College of Aviation Atrium, Daytona Beach Campus

Time: 2:15pm - 5:15pm

Since the development of air travel and improvements in aircraft design, the aviation community has come to the understanding that human factors lay behind most of aircraft accidents, and nowadays it remains the primary reason for accident causation. In the late 1980s Cockpit Resource Management, later renamed into Crew Resource Management (CRM), was first introduced as means to cope with the existing problem.

CRM is a set of training procedures aimed at understanding, managing, and mitigating human errors to foster efficient and safe flight operations; it emphasizes on teamwork, interpersonal communication, leadership, and decision-making processes.

The topics covered during the conference are related to applications of CRM in and beyond the cockpit, as well as cultural and regulatory differences worldwide as proposed by graduate students enrolled in the Applications in Crew Resource Management course (MSA516).

The conference is structured to present valuable information, using an interactive presentation as well as a poster and Q&A session to provide a guide of interest. The Trends and Directions CRM Conference is an integral part of Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University’s Daytona Beach Masters of Science in Aeronautics course MSA516, led by Dr. Cass D. Howell, Ed.D., and supported by the Journal of Aviation/Aerospace Education and Research (JAAER).
