Proposal Synopsis
Providing library services in the learning management system is a great way to meaningfully engage students at their point of need. UW-Madison had multiple services available in Canvas that existed separately and all had to be manually added. The library was seeking a way to increase the discoverability of library services in Canvas for faculty, staff, and students and to package and brand these services in a single point within Canvas. The result was a new tool, the Library Dashboard, which served as a single service point for library services in Canvas. This workshop will describe the process that led to the tool’s development, as well as live demonstrations of the library dashboard in Canvas. Attendees will work through an action plan that they will customize to their own institution during the session. Attendees will leave with a draft action plan in order to start the work towards an integrated library service point in their learning management system.
