Abstract
Global MHD modeling often provides a context for understanding MMS observations. Connections of field lines near MMS can be traced to various locations in the solar wind and ionosphere, leading to different particle populations virtually adjacent to each other. Examples are shown where the model predicted a large-scale flux rope in the magnetic tail and connection of the MMS spacecraft to the Geotail spacecraft in the solar wind.
