Abstract/Description
Unmanned aircraft systems (UAS), also known as drones, offer new capabilities for cultural heritage preservation activities. Student researchers from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University travelled to the Republic of Kosovo for a summer study abroad during 2019. While in Kosovo students applied photogrammetric techniques based upon UAS captured imagery to assist with historical site documentation and cultural heritage preservation. Students created georectified orthomosaics and 3D virtual objects from imagery. This imagery can be used by non-governmental and governmental organizations for cultural heritage preservation purposes.
